  • the pony guys at n4g are really a SPECIAL bunch, now there is a article focusing on how you can see ants on a tree in Horizon zero dawn, so of coarse they are all praising it as the next coming of christ stroking each others egos as they climax together in each post. thats a sick bunch. in my mind they are all sitting around jerking off the pony next to them in a circle jerk as they whisper the words sony ps4 pro

I'm glad I've bought PS4 Pro to see these "details" in Horizon. However will not buy it the game at launch, will wait for at least 50% discount.

Today I logged into PSN and guess what, they had a lot of Final Fantasy games on sale, so I happily bought FF X/X2 remaster for half price.

Game could be done on our unlocked hardware anyway.

But the main thing is, no port begging at all from xbox fans, we wouldn't want the game anyway.
Unlike like Sony fans port begging for Ryse Son of Rome say.

Great! I hope that SP campaign still has some destructions. But if no, can live with it, previous Crackdowns did not have destruction

      • Celebrating an Epic Xbox 2017 Games Lineup

Today is a big day for Team Xbox as we celebrate the worldwide launch of early access for Halo Wars 2. Since the launch of the original Halo Wars on Xbox 360 eight years ago, the passionate Halo community has been urging us to publish a sequel. I am incredibly proud of the action-packed experience the talented teams at 343 Industries and Creative Assembly have created on the biggest Halo battlefield ever.

From the in-depth, story-driven single-player campaign to the innovative and accessible Blitz mode, to the more traditional Deathmatch, Halo Wars 2 is designed for players of all skill levels to have fun. And, with Xbox Play Anywhere, players get both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC versions of Halo Wars 2 with a single digital purchase, including shared progress and achievements across both platforms. I have been playing Halo Wars 2 behind the scenes for a few months now and the game feels like a return to what made the first Halo Wars great with a new take on RTS that will attract even more gamers to the genre.

2017 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years ever for Xbox gamers. We are preparing to launch the most powerful console ever made this holiday – Project Scorpio – along with a diverse lineup of games. In fact, we are committed to delivering even more exclusive games for both Xbox One and Windows 10 this year than we launched in 2016. I was very proud of our first-party lineup in 2016 and I am encouraged by an even bigger and more differentiated first-party lineup in 2017, starting with today’s launch of Halo Wars 2.

Our studio partners at Rare, Undead Labs and Sumo Digital/Reagent Games are working hard to develop exclusive Xbox One and Windows 10 games this year, from new IP like Sea of Thieves to all-new chapters of fan-favorite franchises like State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3. Sea of Thieves is currently in technical alpha and is taking a community-oriented approach that lets players participate in the development process, and both State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3 are looking and playing great. And of course, we’ll have more in store for you at E3 2017 in June.

I’m also excited about the return of two original Xbox classics coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 this spring – Phantom Dust and Voodoo Vince. Fans of the original Xbox game Phantom Dust can look forward to the re-release of the original classic with Xbox Play Anywhere support and cross-play, as well as improvements to game balance and frame rate. And Voodoo Vince: Remastered is coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam through the ID@Xbox program. This new edition features high-fidelity visuals and Xbox Play Anywhere support, along with the classic gameplay and brilliant soundtrack fans know and love.

There’s a lot to look forward to this year from independent developers as well. Between Cuphead – one of my personal favorites and an Xbox One console exclusive also coming to Windows 10 – and Below, Thimbleweed Park, Tacoma, Ark: Survival Evolved, We Happy Few and more, 2017 is shaping up to be an incredible year for the ID@Xbox program.

We are focused on building the largest games library in Xbox console history, which means our Xbox One Backward Compatibility lineup will continue growing this year. We’ve delivered top fan favorites like Grand Theft Auto IV, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and the BioShock and Mass Effect trilogies to our catalog in recent months, and we’ll continue adding more games throughout the year.

In addition to all the amazing exclusives, ID@Xbox, and backward compatible games coming this year, I’m thrilled with the great games our third-party development partners are creating, including upcoming titles For Honor, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, TEKKEN 7, Mass Effect Andromeda, South Park: The Fractured but Whole, Prey and Injustice 2.

With such a broad and varied roster of games and first party exclusives on the horizon, continuous improvements across Xbox Live, and the upcoming launch of Project Scorpio, 2017 is going to be an incredible year for Xbox One and Windows 10 gamers. On behalf of everyone at Team Xbox, thank you for your continued passion and support.

        Phil Spencer

Yes, no reason why at all.

Only mean, either Capcom is making sure the PS4 version is better to try and keep with the 50% more power native.
Or Microsoft suggesting to Capcom to tone the xbox version for the whole recovery sales push.Which I would sort of agree with until PS4 pro sales start pick up smarty.

        • finally AMD confrming my dig
that Geometry processing is all CU based, and fxd fucntiion on that block replaced by CS (CU based)

          http://techreport.com/review/31224/t...architecture/2

it is inline why X1 diagram , showed like Geometry processing is same rectagle block as Pixel/compute
also why XDK satated X1 VS is not same as PC normal GPU

because Vega Prim shader work much like X1 Geometry processing block
and the prim rate is not brute force Fxd fucntion number
instead prim rate means the balance rate that actual shader could output

also why Xbox director SOC already statetd in patent called the pipeline is Software pipeline = CPU like (when gpu become cpu like)
means there is no fxd function !!!!
which also similar to X1 diagram

You can start to see why more and more the NDA had to stay in place really.

        • remember the SM 6.0 is just 1st taste
basically 2017 is 1st true xbox years

3rd party will be step by step to use SM 6.0
but 1st party will give surpirses on E3 that include for X1 ;-)

using DX12_1 + SM 6.0 is not flip a switch
          it is a process,

How would the layer unlocking work?
I can only guess they the developers' would be given a USB key with the encryption keys to access the hardware layers.

Which is why nobody can see the hardware in the developer tools/Library, but only the latest x-rays can show proof of the the hidden power.
All I know that 256-bit keys are said to be impossible to crack, which like the windows phone boot loader are lock 2. Most likely the same professional lock out methods used.

from developer POV, they can not guessing the HW other than XDK hw counter
            SM 6.0 is logical
as said on XDK or DX12, SM 5.0 is singe thread,
single thread logically can not saturated block especially if X1 designed to be multiple gpu block on die

we have to see on several POV
what is shown as XDK or diagram wont be known to engine programmer

they wait until tools matured like SM 6.0
SM 6.0 itself also opening the door to some other block as it is multithread
where SM 5.0 is single thread

it is a way for MS to make X1 keep evolve without general public know
that some performance improvement is because SM 6.0 is extend to that block

ok mistercream, all that sounds logical and all your info seems to take that logical step into that direction that the xbox one will finally be used the way it was meant to be used in a way unlocking the xbox one but my question is.Why would a Scorpio be needed if the xbox one can be improved with all the new things available to it such as sm6.0 dx12 etc.....

X1 aka durango is part of scorpio too (the early version)
            X1 in truest form is balanced for 1080 60FPS / 1440p 30FPS
            where

X1 pro aka scorpio high end is for truest 4K

thats the reason GeOW can do 1080p 60FPS in early taste of SM 6.0, this is not true SM 6.0 but early taste

thats why i said E3 will not only for X1 scropio but also for X1

well that makes much more sence, so the x1 and Scorpio are based off each other sort to speak and the x1 will finally be working the way it was designed giving it true performace at 1080p 60k with the scorpio hitting 4k and same or higher fps depending ont he game, this also makes it easier for games to use more power of the scorpio without leaving the xbox one version to far behind

        • true 4K 60 FPS need moer than what X1 has
it is infact early Xbox surface rumor said X1 as 1080p 60FPS/1440p is true

we talk AAA 4K, not simple games 4K remember

ok one last question regarding this, so if that is the case and xbox one will start using those new features then why did they have to remove things like snap in order to speed up the system if in fact more power will be coming or new features that open the xbox one are going to start being used.?

you know same as kinect removed etc they said for more power
            let use logic here
do you think improvement of 100 GFlops (kinect 2 resources) will make games jump from 720p to 900 p then to 1080p with GeOW and lately ?
            of course not

Snap is not even using gfx core resources or cpu resources

removed snap etc is more to do that they try to streamlined the X1 design
and targetted toward one core paradigm across w10 devices

sure removing snap will make % resource more to UWP apps that run on SRA
but wont affecting ERA which where games are running

on overall POV like when MS state something
sure it is >> improvement to overall OS - user experience interaction experience << that run
behind the scene (on X1) but wont affecting minimal OS that tasked to facilitate games than run on ERA

SRA= shared apps, which support multiple background apps + system OS + etc
ERA = exclusive apps, only 1 which is games only, UWP run on SRA not on ERA

        • the ponies at n4g are really a doozy, i never seen so many articles kissing a games ass as i have seen for horizon zero dawn and each article worse then the last with them all praising it and protecting it like a god, the game is locked at 30 a dn they all chime in how 30fps is perfect, game has day one patch like many games they all chime in how its small so its all good, then other articles just for the sake of article just to praise it unlike anything i have ever seen. its like they are so desperate for a good AAA game that they over hype themselves so they can convince everyone how great it has to be.

"latest pics suggest zero dawn is a zelda killer"
horizon dawn is locked at a solid 30, but its solid so its perfect"

          • The next Xbox — Project Scorpio — may be using a new "Motion" interface design language

Microsoft's next Xbox — Project Scorpio — is shrouded in mystery, but we now have a clue about its dashboard interface.

Since we know that Microsoft is hard at work on Project NEON, an all-encompassing design refresh focusing on translucency, we've been wondering whether Xbox would see the same visual design refresh in the future. It now appears that Project Scorpio could have something else entirely.

Microsoft watcher h0x0d recently discovered a LinkedIn profile that directly references not only Project NEON, but a new "Motion" design language destined for Project Scorpio.

The Software Design Engineer even links to our own article on Project NEON, while discussing a new "Motion" design language for Scorpio. He also talks about how Scorpio's 6 TF of computational power will benefit Project Scorpio's visual interface.

            Xbox Scorpio Prototyping

I'm currently prototyping Xbox Scorpio Motion Design language, which is targeting Holiday 2017. What are we going to do with 6 teraflops of graphical processing power? Find out next year on Christmas morning ;)
I've previously speculated that Scorpio could have the same interface as the Xbox One, but it appears that Microsoft has plans to use Scorpio's horsepower to make the dashboard look extra flashy. At this point, we can only guess what Scorpio's dashboard will look like, but the word "Motion" could offer some form of clue.

Microsoft is planning to reveal Project Scorpio in the coming months, most likely at their E3 event on June 11th.

Owing to internal Microsoft documents I've received, we expect that Project Scorpio will sport all the same UWP features that the Xbox One supports today, including background audio, and so on. But with the Windows 10 Creators Update, it's looking that both the Xbox One and Scorpio will also encompass [Compact Overlay Mode](http://www.windowscentral.com/univer...de-replacement to replace Snap Mode, and even file picker support for third-party apps.

Microsoft is hard at work optimizing the current Xbox One interface for testers on the Xbox Insider Program, while bringing more UWP tools into the Xbox fold. There's a chance we could learn more about Project Scorpio's feature set for developers even before E3 at Microsoft's Build conference in May. Either way, we won't be waiting much longer to find out more.

Phil mentioned that in future they will publish games that come either to PC only or to console only. I'm happy. Looks like next Halo could be true exclusive. Looks like Phil is not very happy with the reception of games on PC and cost effect.
