Imagine that ... so Sony can co-develop Navi and disallow MS to have it, but AMDs biggest partner is still MS. And yet people still think MS will have no other choice, but to use Vega /smh

“Our major customers, Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC and Microsoft Corporation, each accounted for more than 10% of our consolidated net revenue for the year ended December 29, 2018. Sales to Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC and Microsoft Corporation consisted of products from our Enterprise, Embedded and Semi- Custom segment. A loss of any of these customers would have a material adverse effect on our business.”

“If we lose Microsoft Corporation’s support for our products or other software vendors do not design and develop software to run on our products, our ability to sell our products could be materially adversely affected.
Our ability to innovate beyond the x86 instruction set controlled by Intel depends partially on Microsoft designing and developing its operating systems to run on or support our x86-based microprocessor products.”

“We continued to make progress with the largest cloud providers as Amazon announced new versions of its most popular cloud instances powered by EPYC processors, and Microsoft Azure announced its highest performance big data and HPC instances were powered by EPYC processors.”

With Sony selling off their PC division, MS having also their surface line + other products (besides the gargantuan cloud service) and the quotes from that annual report which one constitutes the bigger partner?

About the Navi thing it's from here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonev.../#72bfeaa024fd

I mean would AMD go and tell MS to just use their old tech, because Sony doesn't want them to use it?

Also this is from last year, what happens when xCloud starts being filled (if it isn't already) with xbox silicon? Can you imagine AMD doing anything to antagonize MS when they're sourcing AMD in almost all of their ventures? The xbox one family, was a 3 billion dollar investment https://www.onmsft.com/news/microsof...illion-dollars ... what do you think two SKUs will do? What about all those All digital editions meant for the cloud + anacondas after that.

My point here is comparing Sony and Microsoft as if they're somehow capable of exactly the same things. As if both are in the same financial position - cell cost Sony $400 million and yet people call the idea of using Zen 3 inside the xb2 crazy.

It's business after all Orion, but if AMD screws over MS and offers Sony a better chip, then MS should do their business elsewhere and go to Nvidia and Intel.

This is not how this work, AMD create the Navi architecture and they will design both chips with whatever customization's Microsoft and Sony are paying for, simple as that, but the conspiracy suggesting that AMD will offer a better chip to someone and screw the other one is crazy hilarious. LOL!!!

Nope, the chip is the same for both, the only difference between the two are going to be the customizations, that's all.

Blaze_ATX AMD is not willing to lose any of the two partners. However, considering the belief that Navi was made for the ps5 you would think MS has no other choice, but to use Vega.

Can't wait for e3, to have some more concrete info here =)

        @OrionWolf

The rumor of "Navi was made for the ps5" is BS and the only source for that is an article from Forbes contributor 🤣🤣🤣🤣 again both will use Navi architecture and the only differences between the two are going to be the customizations.

Panda I don't think it's who pays more, it's a matter of design decisions, what each company is striving for. With MS at least we know they are positioning themselves in two categories - value and power.

Take what you will from that (price and specs). But if Zen 3 is a thing, than imho, it's not the same chip as in the ps5. The arch differences are not minute and albeit it could be customized, it's still a new, quite different CPU from AMD (there's nothing like it on AMD side, Intel has the Xeon Phi and IBM had their 4-way SMT chips for quite a while), not just Zen 2 with modifications.

It's like saying that Bulldozer with customization's is the same as Zen on the basis of both having 8 cores.

In regards to their GPU side, AMD is heaving problems, everyone knows this, no one knows when their next arch is coming and even Navi has been delayed quite a few times. So everyone has been assuming it's either Vega or Navi for the ps5 and xb2. Moreover the Forbes article made it look like Navi is going to exclusively for the ps5; or more people took it that way, without any actual evidence to support that claim.

or mind that can sense order in chaos all simple and very logical
early engine is about regular, but data feed start become irregular, & finding 64 Data for1 inst is inefficient,so need clean break from GCN

other hint is X1 scheduler or upcoming X2 can run S_ V_ but limited, it is partly what described in supersimd side ALU, but on X1 it is repurposed as front end ILP,then probably this VLIW also act as BC-baked silicon CPU accelerator, like Transmeta (VLIW)

    • Jesus. Rumours everywhere lmao. People are just thirsty for news:

      • $449/€449/£399.
      • ~12-13TF.
      • 24GB RAM.
      • 2TB storage (SSD + custom).
      • BC with all previous Playstations.
      • Minor changes to DS5, also has IR camera.
      • Launches worldwide September 2020.
      • PSVR2 coming later.
      • Big first party year 1 games are Gran Turismo and Horizon 2. GT will launch with the console. There's other titles for year 1, but these are the two "big" ones at the reveal event.
      • Japan Studio will be at launch with a new IP, will also be shown off at event, but they have begun work on a AAA title too.
      • San Diego is the only other first party studio planned to appear at the event.
      • No plans for any upcoming PS4 first party titles to be cross gen at release.
      • All of Ghost, TLOU2, and Death Stranding are planned to release by mid-2020 as PS4 games.
      • TLOU2 late 2019, Ghost early 2020, and Death Stranding after that, barring any delays.
      • No PS5 versions are decided at the moment. Focus is on delivering the PS4 versions. Discussions about how to proceed with hypothetical PS5 versions - if you launch a significantly upgraded PS5 game for retail/digital in year 1, then letting PS4 owners pay a small upgrade fee since the PS4 disc is usable and playable on PS5 anyway seems to be favored route. Alternatively, you just play the normal PS4 disc on the PS5.
      • Square Enix will be at reveal event with Luminous Production new IP (RPG) and Final Fantasy 16.
      • FF16 was originally planned as a current gen title but due to the screw up with FF7 Remake which delayed it from the planned release of 2018, it was moved to next gen.
      • FF7 Remake is not a PS5 release. Current gen only and no plans for a PS5 version right now.
      • LP is also making a FF15 PS5 Edition for launch.
      • DQXI with added content will be on PS5.
      • Capcom, Warner Bros, and Rockstar (RDR2 next gen) will be at the reveal event.

Those are the only things confirmed for now as planning is underway.

Mhm, so FFXV that's currently on every system (smartphones as well) is going to get a ps5 special edition only? Yep, that sounds believable.

Also I'v been seeing this notion that people will have to pay for improved version of the games... tell me how well it bodes for the ps5, when you don't need to pay anything additional for enhanced titles?

when infact it is real AMD, plus reason AMD will move from GCN

found perfect AMD slide (end debate)
      GCN CU isnot 64 instruction
i always said GCN CU is 1 instruction across 64 data which processed by the SP ALU,it is DLP design

debate because I said look at MS engineer said 768 Scalar engine
      ,= impossible in GCN unless,ILP VLIW=scheduler

    • John Wick Is Coming to ‘Fortnite,’ and Details Have Leaked Early

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” releases in theaters on Friday, May 17, and it looks like massively popular battle royale game “Fortnite” is celebrating its launch with a limited-time event, according to Eurogamer.

Last week, a Reddit user pointed out that the assassin’s house has appeared at Paradise Palms. That sent dataminers on a fact-finding mission, and they dug up images of a John Wick cosmetic skin and a limited-time mode.

The skin reportedly comes in two styles — a “regular” version depicting Wick in his trademark black suit and a “damaged” version. Meanwhile, the new LTM is called Wick’s Bounty and it tasks players with eliminating other “bounty hunters” for gold coins, the currency used in the assassin world of the “John Wick” films. A player wins when they reach a certain amount of coins, but if they’re eliminated three times they’re out of the match for good, according to the leak. Players who collect a large amount of coins will have to be extra cautious, since their locations will be marked on the map.

This isn’t the first time “Fortnite” developer Epic Games has done a movie crossover event. Last year, it brought Marvel’s Mad Titan, Thanos, to the battle royale title for a limited-time mode coinciding with the launch of “Avengers: Infinity War.” That LTM introduced the Infinity Gauntlet to matches. Any player who found it and put it on transformed into Thanos and wreaked havoc with a set of special abilities. Epic brought the mode back a year later for the launch of “Avengers: Endgame,” while also adding cosmetics like an Iron Man suit and Captain America’s shield.

      • RAGE 2 Developers Want To Make A Sequel “As Soon As Possible”

id Software boss Tim Willits hopes they get to work on a RAGE 3 not long from now.

RAGE 2 is out now, eight years after the launch of the first game in the series, and developers id Software and Avalanche Studios have already got a great deal of upcoming content mapped out over the new few months. But id Software are looking even beyond that, and are hoping they’ll get to work on a sequel- and that they won’t have to wait eight years this time.

Speaking in an interview with Hollywood Reporter, id Software boss Tim Willits spoke about the possibility of a RAGE 3, saying that he hopes they’ll get to work on a sequel “as soon as possible”, highlighting the ridiculous and over-the-top nature of the world of RAGE and the creative freedom it affords to them as developers.

“I hope so,” he said, when asked if there will be a sequel. “Yes, is the answer to that question. We’ve always loved this franchise because it’s such a fun setting. We can do what we want. We were once talking about riding on giant cockroaches. What other game can you have a conversation where that’s a legitimate conversation you can have?! It’s a crazy, fun, exciting franchise and I hope we can make a third one as soon as possible.”

If the sequel does end up happening, it’ll be interesting to see if Avalanche Studios will return as co-developers, or if id Software will want to take the lead this time and develop the game entirely in-house. Given RAGE 2’s reliance on the Apex Engine, the former might be likely.

It’s a bit too soon for that though. RAGE 2 only just launched, and is currently available on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In our review, we called it “an accomplished first person shooter, but a bland and disappointing open world experience.” Read our full review through here. Also make sure to check out our in-depth technical analysis of the game.
