  • Sony’s PS5 Dev Kit Spotted in the Wild

It should come as little surprise that gaming studios are starting to get their hands on next-generation hardware. Specifically, the PlayStation 5 dev kit has been spotted and surprise, it looks exactly like the patent application that Sony submitted for the hardware.

As you can see in the image at the top of the post, the dev kit is designed for functionality first, aesthetics second. The images were first posted on Twitter but little other information was released at that time.

But Sony has already started to talk about specs including storage and we know that ray-tracing will also be a big part as well. Of course, we are still about a year away from the release of the PS5 but expect to learn more about the hardware around E3 of next year.

The other obvious question is what does Microsoft’s dev kit look like? While Sony has clearly started shipping hardware to its partners, we haven’t heard as much about Scarlett. But fret not, Microsoft has started working with partners already for launch content for its next-gen console or is it consoles?

While Phil Spencer has confirmed that dev kits are being shipped out, he recently dodged a question about Lockhart still being alive. And here’s the thing, for a company that is only talking about one console, Scarlett, I have heard from quite a few insiders who are familiar with Lockhart and they don’t believe the project is dead.

Keep in mind, we are about a year away from release and more likely, six months or so away from production beginning for the new hardware. The release plans for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett are still fluid and may change several times before release.

I was a fan of how they tried to discredit him as well and how some were begging Kleegamefan to throw them a lifeline of hope.
The best part is that klee and matt couldn't save them.:)

Yup, suddenly Kleegamefan go silence and he only made one post saying that his source (which by the way is a developer from a third party studio) says that Lockhart is dead🤣🤣what a fool he thinks Microsoft is gonna tell a third party studio about that project, lolololol and Matt has been very shy and it's not denying it.🤣🤣

Many of these same dopes were the one's crying about how Reiner was treated several months ago. They are the absolute worst in our community. I wish the devs that visit there would migrate to a different forum.

Yup, bunch of hypocrites and I agree with you, developers who visit or share information in that place, need to move far away from that cesspool named Resetera (Pony-Era).🤣

          • Xbox One was the UK No.1 games console over Black Friday

It narrowly beat Switch, but Nintendo generated the most revenue from hardware sales

The Xbox family of consoles were the best-selling machines over Black Friday in the UK.

Microsoft's device was heavily discounted during the Black Friday sales period, with the Xbox One S All-Digital consoles cut to £110 in Tesco, with £129.99 offers at other retailers. The machine bundled in digital versions of Sea of Thieves, Minecraft and Fortnite, which is why all of those games charted so well in the software charts.

More than 100,000 Xbox One machines were sold last week, according to retailers, which is just slightly behind what the console managed during Black Friday 2018. The All-Digital version was the most successful edition of them all.

Xbox One very narrowly beat Nintendo Switch by "just a handful of consoles". Nintendo's machine also featured some big discounts during Black Friday, with the new 'Lite' version down to £179.99. Retailers also did some bundling around products such as Nintendo Labo, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and Pokemon Sword and Shield.

The Neon Switch with the longer battery life was the biggest selling version of the machine. Nintendo sold more Switch consoles during this Black Friday than it managed over the same period in 2018.

In terms of revenue, Nintendo Switch was actually the No.1 console due to the higher price of the machine compared to Xbox One.

This all meant that PS4 was in third place. Sony's machine sold just over 60,000 units last week, with the FIFA 20 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare bundles proving to be the most popular. Although there were offers around PlayStation last week, they were not as aggressive as Microsoft's deals.

Overall for the year, sales of PS4 and Xbox One are considerably down during 2019 vs 2018, although that's to be expected as the machines begin to show their age.

Xbox One sales are down 35% year-to-date and PS4 is down 45% year-to-date. Nintendo Switch, as the newer product, is trending more than 13% up year-to-date.

Great news and this show that price matter for the 95% of costumers (Casuals Gamers), the other 5% are the hardcore gamers that will buy the product day one and no matter the price and companies know this, that's why Microsoft is still thinking of the idea of Lockhart for next gen, they need an low price entry console for the casuals market.

All digital edition was the best seller! Now what were those rumors about Lockhart not having a disc drive again?

          • Hey Blaze I'm just going to say that you were right in regards to Era and to not take it too seriously.

I mean people there are still running with the idea that the consoles are equal or the difference is negligible because "insiders" on Era said so. Lmao at people just ignoring the tweets from Tom. Not saying that's not a possibility, but I find it hilarious how they're negating what Tom said and still hoping for that the ps5 is 10% stronger; yeah clearly not a biased place.

Brad Sams stated that we wont get actual info for at least 3 months, when Scarlet goes into early engineering production. So until than, speculation is good, but salt needed with any "insider" talk.

Yup, that place is a joke and what I find very funny is the pony's take the words of "pseudo insiders" like (Kleegamefan, Matt, Zhuge, Reiner) as gospel, but when insiders like (Tom Warren, Jez Corden, Klobrille and hmqq) says anything, they attack every word they say, but time will tell who is right.😎

That guy is an ex-journalist from one of the best gaming magazines that existed in the 90's Gamefan and am sure the guy has some sources, but recently they guy act like he knows everything about next gen and to me this attitude is just looking for attention and some recognition. In Matt case he is more reserved and don't say much and by the way as far I remember Matt never told if the information Kleegamefan have is accurate or not, the only comment he says when someone ask him about that, he always answer *It doesn't matter*, we will find out soon.😎

We will find out soon enough. I'd bet anything MS sent out the weak Scarlett dev kits just so Sony could get info about Scarletts power, which would lull them into believing that they would have an edge on power again. Ultimately, this would leave PS5 way behind with no time to change things once the high end Scarlett dev kits roll out.

Ponies are going to ffip out when they realize what's going on with the way MS handles the upcoming years, that's for sure!
