Where are explanations ? We need to be very careful about "potential" numbers and "real life" numbers always restricted by bottleneck coming from bandwidth, CPU or anything else. There is also a difference between a free interpretation of numbers and real number officially communicated. Also, equation you use to determine final number must be based on strong basis and without any hypothesis. If we respect all these predicates why is it not confirmed by any other technical guys from Beyond3D forum for example ? I do not want to be the devil's advocate but if we affirm something, we must not have any steps in the demonstration open to any free interpretation.

Beyond3d has discussed this at length, just go check out the console techology forum, it is just that they shoot down everything single that is said. They even shoot down the mention of server in the xdx, and look out that turned out. Now we know that xbox os is basically a server that allows xbox 360 0s and xbox one os to exist on the same box. So people at beyond3d knows, but they refuse to believe msft could have produce something special.

No need to a any specific server architecture to run emulated OS into a VM. For the CPU, emulation of PowerPC with x86 has been already done by Apple with the Rosetta technology and Dx9 layer is owned by MS then they can develop another Dx9 layer using GPU of XboxOne. I mean it is more a software challenge than related to specific hardware.

    • Shaggy OnDope over at IGN interviewed Phil Spencer and despite "Beast" history, the interview is worth a listen. Nothing earth shattering, but good to hear from Phil Spencer. Just check podcast unlocked in your favorite podcast player. I think it is the most current one. About 15 minute interview!

Also check out TIC video, Len has a go pro video of him and team at e3. Great video so far. Showing elite controller with full explanation from Microsoft rep about elite.

      http://www.ticgn.com

Here is a link to longer videos that show New Dash, BC, etc. I have seen this videos already from other sources, but this is a good compilation of Microsoft videos showing enhancements that are incoming. Cortana if it works as shown is a game changer. Go get your Kinect today!!!

      • Dutch, I think a lot of people are going to regret not buying the Kinect bundle, because if they buy in later it will cost them more money.

        • Amen to that. Just watching that video with the full Cortana experience and AI dealing with comments such as is Catigerman online, invite to party. This is a game changer in my opinion. Hope it works as shown, I doubt Microsoft would mislead us on this. Granted there will be some voice recognition issues based on speech patterns and how some voices don't always register perfectly, but despite that my experience with Cortana on W10 has been pretty rock solid. I assume we are getting the exact same tech behind that, so this as I just said is a game changer. So wish this update was the August preview, but afraid we may have to wait longer since I wonder if this is part dx12 based which it why Richard Irving seemed to suggest that w10 gives the dash a little extra speed. Must be a bump from dx12. Just a guess. If we are waiting dx12/w10 we may be into October preview land😐

Quaz l. Is your kinect calibrated? because i can give commands with quite high game volume without shouting.

        • I don't know though, a dash update is a major update, so I suspect it may be a multiple month preview. I was in the original 360 beta program, and we sometimes tested new dash updates for 3 months or longer before they were rolled out to the public. So, thats why I think we may get the Win10 dash update sooner than you think. Needs to be tested, and I fully expect that the new dash will roll out to public by the time Halo 5 launches at end of October.

Yeah, I would expect that soon and more games for BC. And I also agree on the Kinect bundle. I love using Kinect for voice commands. I just wish I could use a different trigger word other than Xbox.

Well, based on videos, its changing to "Hey Cortana", lol, instead of XBOX. :)

        • AMD next fiji leaked, Splitted 2 GPU in logic (where we heard that)
          6 CU group A haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

According to the video, old commands will still work (maybe it is a transition period or I am misinterpreting the video), so I think we may still have the issue of "Xbox" activating Kinect even with the addition of "Hey Cortana". Hope they turn "xbox" command off, because xbox is said a lot around an....Xbox :D "Hey Cortana" is only said when you need her. :D I do like you guys idea that it is multiple month preview. • REVBEN:
So the offical xdx lies. The official xdx says it is 4.9 tflops, but for some reason only 1.32 tflops is being used. When a xdx say otherwise, i would believe it. So stop telling me how to think, becuase I go by what the documentation and it says xbox one can do 3072 pixel/texel/operation per cycle. So whatever it is technically 4.9tflops or not, it has the ability of 4.9 tflops and that is all based on the xdx. Please give me official documentation to disprove that, if you want to laugh out loud
Can someone please post the XDK documents that shows where it says 4.9tflops please.

Also remember that the XDK was leaked BEFORE the GPU MHz increase. so if you have 4.9 divided by 4 = 1.23TFlops (which equals Exactly what the TFLOPS were at when it was at 800Mhz)

So judging by that numbers it should now be 1.32 * 4 = 5.28TFlops.

But if someone could please post that XDK info that would be great.

in my thread i posted remember
plus 4 L2 each L2 has 12 CU it is documented in XDK
                but the clock half

there is 48 TCP, each tcp is L1, remember this is new paradigm
MS used splitted between Vector for Gfx/Compute and for backend

                48 TCP = 48 CU
                24 TD = 24 CU
this is same as leaked Next Fiji witch = 6 CU group

look at my prev slide there is XDK counter that show
                48 tCP
                24 TD

                TD always related to CU
                TCP to L1
then you can guess why thre is 6 index CU
                6 index = 6 CU group

this is my slide from several month ago

in my 1st post in my secret sauce i provide the link to XDK all in page 1
                include AMD etc

                XDK counter
                http://i.imgur.com/GLh8EBc.jpg

about CU = TCP i do have slide too
all basically i already posted several times

                then GDS to GDS transfer

this is XDK when showed can mask on/off CU index
                http://i.imgur.com/BmjW1pq.jpg

CU index 0 - 5 is not just 6 CU
                it is CU group(0) - (5)
each CU group hold 12 CU
                4 CU index --> 48 TCP
                2 CU index --> 24 TD

what we see on CHipwork is generate Scalar an control + CPU to make new CP= ILP part (instruction level parrarelism)

it is somewhat very very inline with insider in 2011-2012 sadi 8970XTX
8970 = 36 CU XTX = 72 CU but X1 using very low clock it never utilize 853 (853 is for only small burst)
thats why MS bragging abouit 2.5 % power island

MS dont have old fixed function only RBE block still fixed function
that you wont see rastrerizer + geometry what you see geometry engine = part of 48 TCP in John sell block

There is no evidence of 4.9tflops. Xdk says 1.2tflops gpu. I do believe there is more, BC, h.265 encodig suggest there is a support cpu (tensilica hw maybe).

but check xbox secret sauce 1st page read the link on post#2

XDK not even tell the whole TF
in one section the XDK only tell 768 Scalar which result in 1.2TF that not tell as Gfx core part, it is part of GPU, but not Gfx core

but on other part there lies the truth of X1 main Gfx core
read XDK that showed 4 GDS
read XDK that showed that process texture unit in different way (not in one block like on GCN)
read the XDK that said per TCP = 1 CU
and check XDK counter, how many TCP
remember next gen GPU will abandoned fixed function
means geometry engine, is CUs too, but focused on Geometry shading

infact any CU group on AMD named as general shader engine
so let said you use that group only for geometry what name appropriate for it ? --> geometry engine
for compute --> compute engine and so on

plus pay attention to 2nd texture cache, which mapped into 16 VA match 4 GDS and so on

Some will, but I think most of them will simply use some tortuous excuse or other to persuade themselves that they did the right thing by not buying, just as PS4 buyers are presently going into spasms and contortions to tell themselves that Sony "won" E3.

No, people are so stupid that they confuse what's online and what's offline. And could be some features combined.
So it should be either one always or both.

To me, like they mentioned here before, saying Xbox is shorter. And Hey Cortana sounds sort of funny.

When you do the audio setup for Kinect you need to have it so loud that it tells you to turn down volume. Then turn down one notch at a time until it passes. I have 3 amps and 3 subwoofers cranked up over 80db constantly and as long as I can scream over it, Kinect still hears me. Its quite amazing.

I would love if we had the ability to "train" the kinect. For example, you could get each family member to say "Xbox Pause" and it would then be trained to better understand when u say and possibly discern those voice commands when there is a lot of sound. Additionally, I would love to be able to add custom commands such as record yourself saying "Xbox setup netflix" and it would mute the tv, turn on the surround sound system (all via IR) and launch netflix.

Not sure about repair but if it needs resetting because its overheating it might be worth checking to see if the fan is spinning OK and it isn't full of fluff.

I'm having the same problem. After about 30 min of use it starts to turn on and off. Sometimes it just disconnects until I reset my XB1. I'm in the Preview Program, and thought it was one of the updates that was causing my issues since I hadn't had any problems( day 1 kinect). I sent a message through the program stating my concern and received a message back saying that I can be assured that any software update received is not causing my Kinect to fail and that it may seem that way because of all the updates received, and its only a coincidence that an update coincide with my Kinect problems. Finally it stated that it sounded like the lasers are going out, which is a hardware issue not software and i should call Xbox support

The two Kinect 2 problems I know of, an online friend's and my own, both seemed to be down to overheating. My mate's Kinect was on a bracket above his 55 inch telly, which generates a lot of heat, and would play up after an hour or two until he moved it to a camera tripod well behind the hot monster.

Mine became erratic around Christmas, but woke up after a blast through the top vents with an airduster. Our house is full of big hairy dogs though. so there's a lot of hair in the air. Better give it another blast now, come to think of it.

If you are in preview program, it should still be under warrantee

I may not have it quite right, but I think it's if MS deems it something the beta updates did to it. Worth checking into though.

Oh My! This back log is going to get very big very quickly! :-)

                          • Great interview with Kudo. Talks about Hololense and FOV, said it's not set, but they're not aiming for "fully immersive" so we're likely to see a smaller FOV on it.
Talks PC gaming and cross play, but doesn't say if you buy one version and can play across devices.
Talks Valve and Oculus partnership. Sounds like Valve partnership is just about keeping APIs similar that work across all VR devices.

I like his words about how MS is enabling everyone to build great things with Windows and not just themselves. It's about "partners" and enabling. They're pushing for gaming on multiple devices, choice, and bring the communities together. I really think this guys has a great vision and there's "lots more to see at gamescom"!! He was also asked if they're going to work with Valve as opposed to competing (like they did with Games for Windows Live), he sort of dodges the question with PR but MAN the smile on his face says something. I can't tell if it's happy or he's putting on a fake smile to mask his contempt HA! Man I'd sooo love to see Valve and MS announce that the new Steam Box is really the Modular Xbox... wow just wow. GAMESCOM!!!

Overall great interview! Refreshing to see a really ground-level interview. Very real. Apologies if already posted.

I liked some of the questions but to push him about price of the controller is kind of silly. I highly doubt Kudo controls what the price is going to be. And some of the other questions seemed kind of gaf'ish to me. Especially the questions about PC and Xbox integration. There are always going to be Xbox exclusives and then there will be multi-plats that hopefully get built for both systems.

                          • Hi everyone im really excited for BC im hoping they do Xbox Original games aswell in the future to build up a massive collection of three gen worth of games on ONE system :-)

Quick question do u think playing them on the Xbox One will improve frame rate issues on old 360 games because that ruined the experience on some games last gen for me :-(

                              • PC Master Race is not happy:

Following on from yesterday’s response to complaints about the state of the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight, developers at Rocksteady have today expanded on their initial response by offering recommended in-game graphical settings for users running minimum and recommend hardware.

The two sets of in-game settings were posted on the official forums, and consisted of settings that many fans foud to be lower than what the hardware is capable of.

In particular, the recommended settings for the recommended hardware specs switches everything to ‘Medium’ and turns off all of Nvidia’s GameWorks features. The blog post added that these specs are intended for “an experience on par with the current generation of gaming platforms.” In the cases of either Minimum or Recommended, the aim is to reach a stable 30fps, according to the post.

Given how these specs require an i7 CPU and a graphics card more powerful than either console, many fans were rightfully livid. Across two different sub-Reddits, as well as the Steam forums, responses varied from disbelief to requests for refunds.

Not only that, but the blog post also lists AMD GPUs has being prone to texture pop-in and other issues. It then asks AMD users running recommend hardware specs to lower in-game settings even further.

This will be such a great tool for NASA and also gives MS some free testing in extreme environments. Remember the demo when it showed a lady under a sink and there was a plumber giving advice and marking what needed to be done in virtual space? Ground control will be able to give the astronauts visual guidance for various complex unforeseen tasks and repairs in space. I can see at some point NASA including the technology within the EVA suits.
