I looked at that also, however I think you will find that is the time in MS (miliseconds) as they need to stay under a certain MS per frame to maintain 60fps.

What is CONFUSING THOUGH is if you add these up they are significantly more than what is needed to get 60fps. and what I think it is showing is that there is multiple hardware parts ( 1. Rendering, 2. SIM, 3. GPU ) I think this further proves there is more hardware in the system.

to get 60fps you must only take 16.66ms per frame (1000ms per second / 60 = 16.66 per frame)

I took a photo of that part of the video and what it said at the bottom was:

      [REN:9.8] [SIM:22.7] [GPU:10.4] [30] 33MS
      MULTI THREAD

      Very interesting though.

Also they have a limit to how much gpu should be used. 20% for multiplayer and 30% for single player.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see 1080/60 for MGS on my Xbox, but on n4g comments people say PES 2016 is 1360*1080 just like Halo 2 remake, Far Cry 4...
And knowing the mistakes PR reps usually make, this could be true.
Never mind, will be waiting for final results, fingers crossed

Witcher 3 is freaking rock solid! Res looks solid, fps are rock solid even in intense moments of action. I am not entirely sure how to play yet as I am still figuring it out but damn it is beautiful!

people are jumping to conclusions and focusing on 4k resolution but looking at in the context as it was presented. for me he was saying 4k assets not the game will run at 4k

4k assets could be a waste unless the Xbox one is using good amounts of AA. if they are using good AA then those samples are from higher resolutions in most cases and then brings that back down to the 1080P image.

either way its a good thing.

Agree no chance they would just bounce in with a 4k game without shouting from the rooftops.
my hunch is, it may well go PC in a year.

He’s still playing the smartass card eh, the amazing part is that MS still hasn’t hired him even though he discovered how the BC was done a few days after it was announced.

If only MS knew there was someone so capable, the BC would have “scored considerably more points” and with him on board the BC would have surely appeared “say, 6 or 12 months ago”

I also think halo and forza reveal from E3 was purposely downgraded image wise. Watched on my Xbox with a good stream to.

                            • Just saw this on Eurogamer:

                              Digital Foundry vs. Backward Compatibility

When Microsoft announced that backwards compatibility would be hitting the Xbox One this year our collective jaws hit the floor. Even factoring out the effort involved in mapping the Xbox 360's GPU functions to entirely different Xbox One hardware, the idea of translating the 360's tri-core 3.2GHz PowerPC CPU to six low-power x86 Jaguar cores seems like a herculean task - yet somehow the engineering team has delivered. It's not perfect in several cases, but the fact that the virtualisation works at all is a supremely impressive achievement.

Unlike the spotty backwards compatibility available on Xbox 360, which required a custom wrapper for each individual game, Microsoft has taken a more extensive approach through the use of a virtual machine that runs on the Xbox One as a game in and of itself. This virtual environment includes the Xbox 360 OS features, though they remain unavailable to the user, enabling the software to behave as if it is running on original hardware. The Xbox One then views this "Xbox 360" app as its own game allowing features such as screenshots and video sharing. The emulator supports both digital downloads and original DVDs, though discs simply act as a key, the core data downloading over the internet via Xbox Live.

                              Mass Effect:
Sub-optimal and nearly unplayable in places.
                              N+: Playable with performance issues.
PDZ: Lower performance, but a better experience than Xbox 360 overall.

Xbox One backwards compatibility: first impressions

Bringing the library of Xbox 360 titles to Microsoft's new platform is an enormously impressive technical feat, to the point where you can't help but wonder just how the engineers achieved it. We've had a few thoughts about this. Firstly, we suspect that Microsoft's insistence that Xbox 360 developers stick to the DirectX 9 console API played a role in this - it would surely have helped to create a clear route in mapping GPU instructions from one generation of processor to the next (though it begs the question of what's going to happen with later games, that used some highly inventive DX9 code to get closer to the metal).
How Microsoft virtualised the CPU is where things get even more interesting - the notion of replicating a tri-core 3.2GHz PowerPC processor on a hex-core 1.75GHz cluster would surely have been a mammoth challenge. Well, as we understand it, the Xbox 360 CPU has two threads per core, and that threading is handled in a fairly primitive manner, with the processor effectively working as six 1.6GHz threads. If we had to guess, we'd say that the virtual machine assigns a thread to each x86 core and works from there. Hopefully soon, Microsoft will want to talk more openly about how this technological miracle was achieved - our door is always open.
Right now, as you might expect from early preview code, the virtual machine works and the fact that it does work is simply astonishing. However, as impressive as that is, there are a number of issues. Looking at Mass Effect in particular, we can't help but wonder whether the current CPU virtualisation is as fast as it should be. Clearly there is more work to do, but with a full release due later this year, the engineers still have plenty of time to polish things up. Even considering its current flaws, the state of the virtual machine's capabilities is remarkable: those precious few moments when performance actually exceeds the Xbox 360 gives us just a bit of hope that in the long run, we may actually end up with an improved experience in some games. While we don't know to what extent the current virtual machine can be improved, we'll keep an eye on the progress of this remarkable new feature and report back with our findings in the future.

I haven't gone in the details for each game but they can be found on the link. General positive impressions.

                              • Df confiming (finally), true double threaded CPU. , also raising and glossing over the technical specs.

each jaguar core just splits and slows down in order to emulate. sounds great, but then there's no CPU left to run the system, snap aps, etc...

these guys are just making shit up.

they are clearly left speechless which is funny in its self.

They BC only uses 6 out of the 8 XB1 CPU Cores as they have mentioned. the other 2 CPU cores on the xbox one run the system, snap aps etc.

Yeah it looks great and shows more of the exploration, combat and survival parts of the game rather than the QTE set pieces that we saw at the keynote.

not really. i did some texture work for someone that had a car in one of those virtual worlds. i used 2k textures just so the textures could get some clarity believe it or not higher rezz textures can help low poly models look better.

                                            • Ghost Recon: Wildlands

This is the first I have seen of this game and it looks really nice.

                                              https://youtu.be/WdJub3Kz2wI

It’s easy to say one game is like another and be disparaging, but in the case of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands it’s meant as a compliment.

Wildlands is Far Cry meets GTA with four-player co-op. The demo we saw today at E3 was a mixture of Far Cry’s outpost capture and GTA Online’s Heists. The mission itself required co-operation between players, a little bit of improvisation and a lot of coordination to pull off successfully. It didn’t go exactly to plan, but we’ll cover the reason for that later.

The game is set in Bolivia, ruled by a coalition of corrupt government and drug cartels. Your four-man team has carte blanche to change the regime and break the narco-state, and plenty of tools at their disposal. The developers are promising “the largest action adventure open-world ever created in a Ubisoft game,” so naturally there are plenty of vehicles for you to steal; buggies, choppers, planes, cars, dirt bikes, trucks with fixed machine guns and more.

It’s probably worth noting that Wildlands can be played solo but that would be missing the point. The entire game can be played with drop in and drop out co-op, whether between friends or strangers. The mission we saw was simple enough – grab and extract a VIP cartel member being held hostage in a settlement.

Our four players came together from various parts of the map, demonstrating the varied terrain. One descended from snowy mountains, another across salt flats, one through a farm and another via the jungle.

                                              Looks very promising.

GForce, if you look at Episode 4 there is more of those, and it shows "RED" when the system is taxed too much I believe. The 33MS goes over and it turns red, and then it returns to 33MS. It might be another number that goes red, but I am doing this from memory, but check out Episode 4 for more of those numbers!

Very interesting article, looks like DF seems to think BC will improve as MSFT tweeks it. The tide is turning. Plus, when full DX12/w10 is implemented that might give BC a little more horsepower for BC.

                                                  • Halo Composer Marti Forms a new studio.

New Seattle studio Highwire Games debuted during E3 -- notable because it's co-founded by longtime Halo composer Marty O'Donnell, Bungie designer Jaime Griesemer, and Airtight Games co-founder Jared Noftle, who serves as technical director.

In a short interview, O'Donnell told Polygon that his goal is to keep the company small: "Budgets go through the roof and the teams go from small, intimate teams to multiple hundreds of people. We've been there and done that. We don't have any desire to do that again."

The company hasn't announced any projects, but O'Donnell said this: "There's some new gaming technology arriving that brings with it challenges that need to be solved."
Bungie sacked O'Donnell last year; that led to lawsuit, which was later settled. Griesemer told Polygon he left Bungie because it was "rapidly changing into a place where I no longer belonged." Airtight Games, meanwhile, shut down not long after completing work on the Square Enix-published Murdered: Soul Suspect.

                                                    My thoughts:
                                                    1. The music of any game coming out from this studio is going to be great.
                                                    2. I want to find out what it means about "new technology". Is it hololense, VR or is it something similar to what Phil Harrison is going to work on with his new studio.

                                                      • Fallout 4 - 1080p on everything and 30fps

                                                        http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/n...pgb1tZkwELOZI4

Fallout 4 will run at 1080p and 30 frames-per-second on everything, it has been revealed.

Fallout 4 director Todd Howard confirmed the news to Digital Spy at this year's E3 gaming expo.

"It is 1080p on everything," he said, before confirming that it would run at 30fps and not 60fps.

Fallout 4, which is set in post-apocalyptic Boston, is the first new entry in the role-playing series since 2010's New Vegas.

Players will be able to build structures and defences within the game world, while mod support has been confirmed for PC, followed by Xbox One.

When we asked if the studio was hoping to eventually bring mod support to PS4, Howard said: "We will be. Well, we're going to make every effort to. If Sony says no, we won't, but I don't think they will.

"But, you know, it will come out on PC first. So early 2016, the creation mod for the PC, and then we're going to make that work on the Xbox One, and then we're going to do the PS4 version."

                                                        Good to hear.

                                                        • There really isn't a huge excuse to not be 1080p on Xbox one, while being 30fps. Especially if Fallout can do it. Tomb Raiders devs said they are shooting for the same thing and are confident in an interview I read earlier. I really hope TR, does well...every time I see a story about it the Sony fans just trash it or say they won't support it because of what they did. A little bit dramatic to me, like a girlfriend or boyfriend ripped their heart out after years together...it's a company that was multiplat anyways. Having said that, MS probably should have acquired them so they could have a safe haven, a home free from the Sony fans...yes, it would sell system if everyone didn't already know about it coming to ps4, crystal dynamics doesn't help by hinting...

What's weird is, some of my disdain is actually because of the hate of the Sony fans, it's so off putting. Still, I do give the exclusives a chance on ps4, TLOU was good, but to be honest, looked the same as the ps3 version, I couldn't tell the difference, a little sharper, nothing drastic like it was touted to be. The Order was a good one time playthrough, but it did not wow me graphically like Ryse, I had taken videos and shared them awhile back. I will play Uncharted r and give an honest opinion on that, I am looking forward to that, still undecided on the Uncharted Collection Though, too many new games coming out around then.

I'd be interested to see if that community would embrace the xbox brand if say...MS released a patch at E3 for all games to run natively 4K ?
                                                              Yes I know it's a hypothetical.

Based on that graph from BadCeejay1975 I'm thinking they would not...? how deep does the hate flow?
I couldn't care less, I game, I buy games, I'm a consumer. They build, they make, they profit.
"They" is not a profit but they do "profit".

                                                              The idolization runs deep.

Neither company wants you truly as a friend for any reason other than to profit from you...why then do people hang onto brands with such distaste for the other? Especially when both have something to offer everyone. In the end I think it becomes the hate for each other that drives it forward and not so much the hate for the company/brand.

                                                              That graph...just wow !
